How to remove EIS on Mercedes E-Class W211
EIS removal procedure for Mercedes E-Class W211
For Mercedes W211 model from 2004 to 2009, removing the electronic ignition switch can be tedious job but none the less not impossible to do if you follow the instructions carefully. Installation is the same in reverse once Mercedes Key Replacement has shipped everything back to you.
Removal time: 30 minutes
Tools needed: flat head, T20 torx driver, needle nose pliers
Step by step instructions:
Step #1:
First, remove the black bezel that sits around the instrument cluster with a flat head prying gently not to break the plastic
Step #2:
Once removed, remove the 4 torx head bolts that hold the cluster in place, then pull out instrument cluster and disconnect any wire connectors attached and set aside
Step #3:
Now remove the bottom kick panel by removing the torx headed bolts and drop so that it is hanging
Step #4:
Next go to the area where the cluster is removed and go to the right where the EIS is sitting, you will notice a chrome bracket that is blocking the EIS. You will need to remove the T20 torx bolt that holds the bracket in place.
Step #5:
Once the bolt is removed, go to the bottom of the kick panel and reach up to the EIS area where the bracket is and remove and put aside
Step #6:
Now remove the EIS chrome ring that holds it to the front of the dashboard where you insert the key fob to start the car, twist it off with the needle nose pliers
Step #7:
The EIS should be loose and can be removed easily once the wire connectors are disconnected from it from below
